LOS ANGELES – The 34th annual City of Hope West Coast Golf, Tennis & Pickleball Tournament raised over $900,000 for cancer and diabetes research and treatment on June 8 in Coto de Caza, California. The event brought together more than 400 guests from the home furnishings industry for competition and philanthropy.

The tournament honored Javier Sanchez, president and CEO of Jonathan Louis, for his contributions to both the industry and City of Hope’s mission. After the day’s competitions, attendees participated in auctions, dinner, and a program featuring presentations on the importance of philanthropic support for medical research and patient care.

City of Hope Vice President of Philanthropy Sharon Joyce highlighted the 50th anniversary of the organization’s bone marrow transplant program, referencing its growth from a small operation in 1976 to more than 20,000 patients treated to date. Joyce told guests, “Every breakthrough we achieve… every treatment we bring closer to patients… every life that moves from uncertainty to hope… is possible because of you.”

Patient speaker Kristine DeSantis shared her experience as a leukemia survivor who received a bone marrow transplant at City of Hope in 2011. DeSantis marked 15 years since her transplant during this year’s event, emphasizing the value of community support and donations for research and patient care.
