High Point, N.C. – The American Home Furnishings Alliance (AHFA) will hold the third annual National Furniture Safety Week from October 5 to 10, 2026. The campaign is designed to promote consumer awareness of common home safety issues and aims to involve all segments of the home furnishings industry.
Companies that have not yet signed up can still participate by pledging support and helping to distribute the campaign’s safety messages. AHFA introduced Furniture Safety Week in 2024 to unify the industry’s consumer education efforts regarding household furniture hazards.
Participating companies will receive a toolkit containing downloadable logos, social media graphics, and additional promotional materials at no cost. The campaign not only highlights simple actions to improve home safety but also emphasizes the industry’s proactive role in developing and maintaining product safety standards. AHFA continues to advocate for regulations aimed at maximizing safety for U.S. consumers.
AHFA collaborates with organizations including Parents Against Tip-overs, the Baby Safety Alliance, CertiPUR-US, Charlie’s House, and the International Association for Child Safety to expand the reach of the campaign’s messages, with a particular focus on child safety.
Five ways to support Furniture Safety Week:
-
Sign up as a participant. Companies can complete the Furniture Safety Week sign-up form to join the campaign and receive the 2026 logo and graphics. Registered participants will receive additional tools as they become available.
-
Spread the word. Manufacturers and importers can inform retail partners and encourage them to participate. Retailers can notify local media, train sales associates, and share Furniture Safety Week messages on social media from October 5–10.
-
Engage employees. Companies can involve employees in amplifying campaign messages through their own social channels.
-
Review website safety information. Participants are encouraged to update website content related to furniture safety, clarify their safe product commitments, and consider adding a dedicated safety page. Suggested content is available from AHFA.
-
Review online product descriptions. Companies should ensure that descriptions for items subject to mandatory safety standards, such as bunk beds and clothing storage furniture, include up-to-date safety information. Sample language is also available from AHFA.
